There is a common misconception between the terms coconut sugar (also referred as coconut palm sugar) and palm sugar. Coconut sugar is made from flower buds of the coconut palm. It is a rich source of minerals, B vitamins, vitamin C and amino acids. This type of sugar is made by evaporation of the sap from the coconut blossoms into crystals.
Palm sugar is made from saps of different types of Palm including Palmyra palm, Date palm, Sago palm and etc. Palm Sugar is very different from coconut sugar in taste, texture and nutritional values.
